Ernie Ball Slinky strings are the perfect match for the MIDI Pro.
Their nickel-wound design works seamlessly with our electrical contact system, delivering exceptional feel and ultra-accurate MIDI tracking.
How it works:
The MIDI Pro senses pitch using electrical contact through each string.
Strings with coated or painted ball ends can block this contact and cause tracking issues.
✅ Correct Contact
Bare nickel string with a clean ball end — ensures full electrical connection from the fret to the bridge through the ball-end anchor point.
❌ Incorrect Contact
Do not use coated strings, as they block electrical contact between the string and the fret.
❌ Incorrect Contact
Do not use strings with painted ball ends, as they block electrical contact at the ball-end anchor point and disrupt the system.
Diagnostic Range
Different strings can produce slightly different electrical readings.
In the Signals menu, an open string should typically read between 600 and 1000, with around 800 being ideal.
If readings fall far outside this range, check your string type and contact points.
