Peter Einhorn

Peter Einhorn is a boundary-pushing jazz guitarist based in Woodstock, New York. A graduate of the University of Miami’s prestigious jazz guitar program, Peter holds dual master’s degrees in Music Composition and Mathematics—a rare combination that reflects the depth and precision in his musical work.

With a career that spans jazz clubs, concert halls, and the Metropolitan Opera, Peter has performed or recorded with legends like Ira Sullivan, Joe Lovano, Jimmy Cobb, Steve Swallow, Placido Domingo, John Abercrombie, Jim Hall, and many more.

Peter is also a prolific film and documentary composer, with over 30 scores to his name, including work for the History Channel. As an inventor, he created the internationally distributed SpiderCapo, a groundbreaking capo that expands the guitar's harmonic possibilities.

In his current work, Peter integrates the MIDI Pro 2 guitar into his setup, bringing expressive depth to his performances. Using a breath controller, he dynamically shapes synth textures and orchestral layers, allowing his guitar to serve as both a melodic and expressive MIDI instrument. This cutting-edge integration enhances his jazz vocabulary with ambient and cinematic soundscapes—while retaining the soul of traditional guitar playing.

Peter has taught jazz and guitar for over two decades, including positions at Bard College, the National Guitar Workshop, and in Java, Indonesia. He is also a published author and educator on JamPlay.com, where he teaches Brazilian guitar, chord melody, and his SpiderCapo method.

As a performer, educator, inventor, and composer, Peter Einhorn continues to expand the language of the guitar—with the MIDI Pro 2 now part of his creative toolkit.
